Rhubarb
A quick intro
Rhubarb plants are perennials that take a few years to grow big. For now we can only harvest a little bit of it, enough for the big boxes, but in the years to come there will be some for all of our members!
Storage
Store the rhubarb stems in the vegetable drawer of the refrigerator.
Season
Spring
Suggestions for preparation
Rhubarb had a wonderful fresh and tart taste and can be used in both sweet and savory preparations. The stems of the plant are edible but the leaves are not (they’re even a bit toxic so you won’t find them in your box). A simple rhubarb crumble is an easy and delicious recipe to start with.
